I once heard someone ask Taeko why she was so fond of putting fish into her pictures. She answered that it wasn’t that she put the fish into the pictures, that the fish were already there and she was surprised that someone wouldn’t see them. This picture shows a window of the Tomioka Hachimangu and a fish she found swimming in the Imperial Palace Gardens.
